Firstly, drive about 1.5 hours to Mutianyu Great Wall. It is one of the less crowded section in Beijing. As a Chinese saying"If you haven't climbed the Great Wall, you haven't seen China." Many of your friends who visited China before might have told you this. It is indeed an experience of life. As one of the best-preserved parts of the Great Wall, Mutianyu section of Great Wall used to serve as the northern barrier defending the capital and the imperial tombs. It's known for its beautiful surroundings - dense woods and rich pastures changing colors with the seasons of a year. There are three ways to get onto the Wall when you get to the base of Mutianyu Great Wall. Apart from hiking up on foot (half hour), you can choose take cable car or chair lift (Optional ). To get down the wall, you can also take Toboggan slide down ( Optional ).
In the afternoon, you will visit the Sony Explora Science in Beijing city. It is a Science and technology museum, an interactive educational center for promotion of science and education. The blend of science and technology is the main theme of Sony ExploraScience. It blends interactive educational exhibits from the Exploratorium in San Francisco with Sony's latest digital technologies to assist young children to experience.
After the tour, you will be taken back to your hotel in Beijing.
After breakfast, you will visit the Forbidden City, also named the Palace Museum, shares the honor of being
one of five world-famous palaces with the Palace of Versailles in
France, Buckingham Palace in England, the White House in the U.S. and
the Kremlin in Russia. The incomparable palace occupies an area of
720,000 square meters and has approximately 8,700 rooms. A
high red wall with a total length of 3,400 meters (3,718 yards) encases
the palace. The palace, the most magnificent and splendid palace
complex in China, was listed as a World Cultural Heritage Building in
1987. You will have around 3 hours to visit the Forbidden City.
After lunch, you will visit the Beijing Zoo, to see the Giant Pandas. The first birth of a giant panda in captivity occurred at the Beijing Zoo 1963. The first artifcial insemination breeding success in the world was achieved at the Beijing Zoo in 1978. As a symbol of friendship, the giant pandas have been presented to many countries.
The last stop for the tour is Summer Palace (2 hours sightseeing), originally a royal garden and a temporary dwelling palace for emperors of Qing Dynasty. Its predecessor was the Garden of Clear Ripples (Qingyiyuan) started in 1750 and burned down by the British and French allied troops in 1860.
The last activities for today is experience the Chinese dumpling making at a local family in Hutong area. Arrangements will be made for you to meet
the family host in a private and traditional Siheyuan (courtyard), where
you’ll learn how to make Chinese dumplings from the hostess.
After finishing your dumpling-making course, you will taste the
dumplings made by your hostess and enjoy other delicious Chinese dishes
as well as your dinner.
After the tour, you will be taken back to your hotel in Beijing.
After breakfast, you will visit the Confucius Temple and Guozijian Museum. Confucius Temple in Beijing is the place where people pay respect to Confucius, which has started since the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368), Ming and Qing Dynasty. Confucius is a Chinese teacher, politician, and philosopher of the Spring and Autumn period of Chinese history.
Guozijian was once the national central institute of learning in Chinese dynasties in Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynastied. It was the highest institute of learning in China's traditional educational system.
After lunch, continue to visit Drum Tower, Ascending the 67-meter high and two-story Drum Tower dating from 1420 is sure to bring you back to the old Beijing by seeing the big drum tower and having bird's-eye view of the surrounding communities of hutongs and siheyuan - existing traditional courtyards in Beijing. Then walking along the Yanda Xiejie (Yandai Byway), a quaint 800-year-old hutong located directly north of Yinding Bridge between Qianhai and Houhai and the south of the Drum Tower, used to be well-known for sellers of long-stemmed pipes, hence the name.
Continue to walk across the Silver Ingot Bridge (Yinding Bridge), a narrow channel joining Qianhai Lake and the Houhai Lake, the hub of Shichhai area with surrounding quiet hutongs. At Yinding Bridge, you will take a 30-minute pedicab drive through the zigzag and narrow alleys or hutongs. Two people share one rickshaw. You are not supposed to tip the pedicab driver since the tour cost includes the tip.
After the tour, you will be taken back to your hotel or drop off at Beijing train station.
