We just wrapped up an incredible 7-day family adventure in Shanghai and Beijing, and I can’t recommend this trip enough! Traveling with elderly parents can be a bit challenging, but Zoe made everything so easy for us. From our very first inquiry, she listened to our needs and designed a personalized itinerary that was perfect for my parents. The focus on leisure and minimal walking made all the difference!
We touched down in Shanghai and were instantly excited about the journey ahead. The hotel Zoe arranged for us was comfortable and conveniently located, which made settling in a breeze. Our second day started at Yuyuan Garden and Bazaar, a beautiful and peaceful spot where my parents enjoyed strolling through the lovely scenery. We wandered through the charming Old French Concession, taking in the unique architecture and relaxed vibe. Tianzifang was another highlight; the artsy shops were delightful to explore without feeling rushed. After a leisurely lunch, we visited the Jade Buddha Temple, which was serene and calming. We ended the day with a walk along Nanjing Road and a stunning view of The Bund, where the skyline lit up at night—it was magical!
On our third day, we visited the morning market, where the atmosphere was bustling and lively. We then headed to Zhujiajiao Water Town, which felt like stepping back in time. The canals and old bridges were picturesque, and we enjoyed a lovely boat ride that everyone found relaxing. The pace of the day was just right, allowing my parents to enjoy every moment.
Traveling to Beijing by high-speed rail was a fantastic experience! The train was comfortable, and the ride was smooth and efficient. It was a great way to see the countryside without any hassle. In Beijing, we kicked off our exploration at Tiananmen Square, which was impressive and rich in history. Next, we visited the Temple of Heaven, a peaceful park where my parents loved watching the locals practicing tai chi. The Forbidden City was absolutely awe-inspiring; it felt like walking through history. We wrapped up the day with a visit to Nanluoguxiang Hutong, where we sampled local snacks and enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere.
Our visit to the Mutianyu Great Wall was a highlight! Zoe had arranged for a comfortable way to experience this iconic site. My parents took the cable car up, which made the ascent easy and enjoyable. The views were breathtaking, and it felt so rewarding to be there together as a family. Afterward, we visited the Summer Palace, where we strolled around the beautiful gardens and enjoyed a leisurely boat ride on the lake. It was a lovely way to end our day.
As our trip came to an end, we felt so grateful for the memories we created together. Zoe’s thoughtful planning truly made this experience special, allowing my parents to explore without feeling rushed or overwhelmed. This trip was not just about seeing the sights; it was about spending quality time with family and creating unforgettable memories. If you’re considering a similar trip, I highly recommend reaching out to Zoe for an itinerary tailored to your needs. Thank you for an incredible journey!
