Our tour guide will meet you in your hotel's lobby then a short drive
heading to the Tian'anmen square to start your walking tour from the
very Zero Point of Highways of China on the axis of old Beijing. Tiananmen Square is the geographical center of Beijing City. It is the
largest city square in the world, occupying an area of 440,000 square
meters (about 109 acres).
Then move on to Forbidden City, also named the Palace Museum, shares the
honor of being one of five world-famous palaces with the Palace of
Versailles in France, Buckingham Palace in England, the White House in
the U.S. and the Kremlin in Russia. The incomparable palace occupies an
area of 720,000 square meters (177.9 acres) and has approximately 8,700
rooms. A high red wall with a total length of 3,400 meters (3,718 yards)
encases the palace. The palace, the most magnificent and splendid
palace complex in China, was listed as a World Cultural Heritage
Building in 1987. It was built in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and the
construction of this group of buildings took fourteen years from 1406 to
1420.
After the Forbidden City, you will trek up to a hill behind the Forbidden City – Jingshan Park (altitude: 94meters). You will enjoy a bird eye view of the whole Beijing. Situated in the center of Beijing, Jingshan Park is a beautiful royal landscape garden. Covering an area of 57 acres (about 230,000 square meters), It is found on Jingshan Hill, which was originally named Wansui Hill (Long Live Hill), Zhen Hill or Meishan Hill (Coal Hill). The mid summit of the hill is the highest point in Beijing. Looking from the peak, the visitor is able to get a full and clear view of the Forbidden City.

After lunch, continue the tour to Shichahai Lake. Located in the southwest of the Drum Tower in beautiful surroundings, Shichahai Lake has a history of about 700 years in the Yuan Dynasty (1279_1368). It assumed its present name in the Ming Dynasty (1368_1644). Strolling along its shoreline, the visitor can appreciate the lake’s glimmering blue water, its graceful weeping willows, its twisting railings and the flower-and-tree-covered central island. Pleasure boats are available for rowing and the banks are amply provided with shady places to rest. A swimming area in the lake is open every summer.
After walking around the lake, will leading you go though the hutongs. There are a lot of interest place you may want to visit.
