Discovered by farmers in 1974, this remarkable archaeological site is a testament to the grandeur of the Qin dynasty. Over 8,000 life-sized warriors, each uniquely sculpted with detailed expressions, attire, and weaponry, stand guard over Emperor Qinshihuang’s tomb. In addition to the warriors, the museum also displays bronze chariots and weapons, enriching the understanding of this pivotal era in Chinese history. Walking through this site is not just observing statues, but experiencing the legacy of an ancient civilization that still resonates today.
Lunch in Xi’an introduces you to the bold flavors of Shaanxi cuisine, featuring two local favorites: Liangpi and Roujiamo. Liangpi, a cool noodle dish, combines smooth, chewy noodles with a vibrant sauce, balancing vinegar, chili oil, and garlic, while crunchy cucumbers and soft gluten pieces add texture. On the heartier side, Roujiamo, often called the "Chinese hamburger," features tender, slow-cooked pork braised in a secret blend of spices, served in a crispy, freshly baked bun. The melt-in-your-mouth pork contrasts perfectly with the crunchy bun, offering a satisfying balance of textures. The meal is a true reflection of Xi’an’s culinary heritage, where each bite tells a story of generations-old traditions. Dining in Xi’an goes beyond eating; it’s an exploration of ancient culinary traditions. With your guide’s insights, you’ll gain a deeper appreciation for Xi’an’s rich food culture, making the meal a journey through history and flavor.
In the afternoon, your exploration continues with a visit to the iconic Big Wild Goose Pagoda, a symbol of spiritual enlightenment and intellectual achievement. If you want to step into history, this 8-day China tour is the way to go! As a family with a young child, we were absolutely amazed by the Terracotta Warriors in Xi'an. Walking through the massive pits, surrounded by thousands of life-sized soldiers, was jaw-dropping. Our guide shared so many interesting stories that made it feel even more real. The Great Wall in Beijing and Shanghai’s mix of tradition and modernity were also fantastic, but the warriors were the true highlight of our trip. This tour was an unforgettable experience for the whole family!
We just got back from our first trip to China, and it was just what we needed—super relaxing and comfortable. Zoe planned the perfect itinerary for us, with the right mix of sightseeing and taking it easy.
In Beijing, we checked out the Great Wall and Forbidden City, but never felt rushed. The Terracotta Warriors in Xi'an were amazing, and Shanghai was a real treat with its blend of old and new. The whole trip felt easy and stress-free, which was perfect for us as retirees.
Big thanks to Zoe for putting together such a chill, yet memorable trip. It was the perfect first experience in China!
