Jiangjunguan Great Wall, Named after the 'general's barrier', Located in northeast of Pinggu district in Beijing, about 120 KM from city center. Jiangjun Pass connect the Shanhai Pass(No.1 pass of the Great Wall) and Huangya Pass(No.2 pass of the Great Wall), so is also considered the No.3 pass of the Great Wall of China.
Hike along Pinggu Jiangjunguan Great Wall, the easternmost part of the Beijing section of the iconic wall. This part of the legendary structure dates back to the Ming dynasty era, and passes through an ancient settlement. History & Background
Jiangjunguan is the eastern furthest part of the Great Wall in Beijing, built 600 years ago during the Ming Dynasty, There has a grandness 3 floors gateway platform founded in north side of enemy tower. Nowadays, only the foundation bed of gateway platform still exist, get on the foundation bed from door, could see the firmness Great Wall built on the both sides, and the walls is well preserved to this day.
As well as the part of the Great Wall, there is a former ancient village called Jiangjunguan village, a gold mine, mountains, gorges, a river and a lake. And now, there is also a new attraction in countryside of Beijing.

1. How to travel to Jiangjunguan Great Wall from Beijing downtown?
Book a private transfer service is the best way to visit Jiangjunguan from Beijing downtown since Jiangjunguan Great Wall is about 30 kilometers northeast away from Pinggu District of Beijing. If you want to take public transportation on your own, you may take subway line 2 or 13 to Dongzhimen, and change to bus 852 or 918 to the terminal, Pinggu Qichezhan Station. Then transfer to Pinggu bus no. 29 to the scenic area directly. You will see the square base of the former gate tower of Jiangjunguan when you get off the bus.
2. Is there any entrance fee to visit & hike at Jiangjunguan Great Wall?
There is no ticket for visting and climbing up the Jiangjunguan Great Wall. It is regarded as a wild Great Wall, there are some villages near by this section where you can start to climb up to the wall. You may find some blocked ways and required to pay the entrance by the local villagers, CNY5 or CNY 10 per person.
3. How can we handle our lunch during our tour in Jiangjunguan?
As Jiangjunguan Great Wall is not such popular as other sections, there are limited food options nearby. You can try the home-cooked food at local village before or after your hiking; If you want to save your time, you can prepare some food from Beijing downtown and have a picnic lunch on the wall. 4. Do you have any good recommendation for hiking at Jiangjunguan Great Wall?
Firstly, it is suggested you climb onto the tower from the southern gate to overlook the surrounding rolling mountains with remaining ramparts built along the ranges. After that, walk through the nearby Jiangjunguan Old Village and then follow a stretch of asphalt road to the foot of the mountains to start your adventure.

One day is recommended to visit Jiangjunguan Great Wall If you travel from Beijing, it takes around 2.5 hours from Beijing downtown without traffic. Jiangjunguan Great Wall is a section that isn't nearly as crowded as Badaling but still easily accessible to Beijing. Jiangjunguan considerd as the deepest and least crowded sections. This almost vacant section was a nice change from Badaling, where most westerners visit the wall. Badaling can be extremely crowded and it can be stressful. You miss some of the peace and serenity that can be found on the less visited sections of the wall. If you travel with seniors, we highly recommend Mutianyu Great Wall for you since it's much close to Beijing city and with more senior friendly facilities, such as cable car, wheelchair accessible path.
