Day 1 Xian Arrival

Upon arrival at Xian train station or airport, please follow the "Your Way Holiday" sign to locate your guide. Once you meet your guide, they will assist with your luggage and accompany you to your hotel. Day 2 Xian

Start your day at the Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum, one of the world’s most significant archaeological sites. Located about 45 minutes outside the city center, the museum consists of three main pits. Pit 1 is the largest, with thousands of life-sized warriors, horses, and chariots arranged in battle formations. Each figure is uniquely crafted, reflecting the military power of the Qin Dynasty. Pits 2 and 3 contain additional groups of soldiers, including archers and cavalry. The museum also displays artifacts and provides insights into the discovery and restoration process. Next, visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, an iconic structure that has stood since the Tang Dynasty. Built in 652 AD, the pagoda was originally constructed to house sacred Buddhist scriptures brought back from India by the monk Xuanzang. The pagoda, towering at 64 meters, is an excellent example of ancient Chinese architecture. Climb to the top for panoramic views of Xi’an, where the modern city contrasts with the ancient pagoda. Surrounding the pagoda is Da Ci’en Temple, a peaceful area with gardens and smaller structures. The Big Wild Goose Pagoda is not only a religious symbol but also a reminder of Xi’an’s historical role in Buddhism during the Tang Dynasty.

End your day at Xi’an’s Ancient City Wall, one of the best-preserved city walls in China. Built during the Ming Dynasty, the wall stretches over 13 kilometers and encloses the city’s ancient core. Walking along the top of the wall, you’ll see the contrast between the old structure and the modern city. The wall is dotted with watchtowers and gates, each offering a unique perspective on Xi’an’s defensive history. For a more active experience, you can rent a bike and ride along the wall’s perimeter. Whether walking or biking, the Ancient City Wall offers a peaceful yet informative way to explore Xi’an’s rich historical heritage, with stunning views of both ancient and modern parts of the city.

Day 3 Xian - Tianshui

Our day trip will begin with a comfortable Bullet Train ride to Tianshui, an important Silk Road city along the Wei River. The journey takes approximately 1.5 hours, offering scenic views as we travel. Upon arrival, your professional tour guide will greet you and take you to the Maiji Mountain Grottoes, a fascinating site featuring a network of caves and walkways carved into the cliffs. The grottoes, dating back to the 5th century, are adorned with colorful Buddhist murals and intricate clay sculptures that showcase the region's historical artistry. Afterward, we will continue to the Fuxi Temple, also known as Taihao Palace, which holds significant historical and cultural value in Northwest China. It houses ten historical buildings, each showcasing traditional design and construction methods. These structures include the main gate, theatrical stage, archways, Congenital Temple, Taiji Temple, Bell Tower, Drum Tower, Laihe Hall, and the instrumental gate. The temple is an ideal place to learn about Fuxi’s role in Chinese culture, as well as the deep spiritual significance tied to his contributions. Day 4 Tianshui - Lanzhou - Xiahe

Then the train will take you to explore Xiahe, home to the famed Labrang Tibetan Buddhist monastery, one of the largest Tibetan Buddhist monasteries outside the Tibet Autonomous Region.

Day 5 Xiahe - Lanzhou - Zhangye

Today, we will visit Labrang Monastery, one of the largest and most significant Tibetan Buddhist monasteries outside Tibet. We will start our visit by heading to the Thangka Sunning Terrace, one of the best spots to admire the stunning views of the monastery and the surrounding landscape. From here, you can appreciate the grandeur of the complex, set against the backdrop of the picturesque mountains. Inside the monastery, you will be captivated by the magnificent Buddha stupas, intricately painted murals, and colorful thangkas that depict scenes from Tibetan Buddhist teachings. A highlight of the monastery is its prayer wheels, which are spread throughout the complex. These prayer wheels are traditionally turned by walking pilgrims, and rotating them is believed to bring blessings and help dispel negative energy. As you walk along the covered corridors, you can take part in this spiritual practice, rotating the wheels and offering your own prayers for peace and prosperity. Thereafter, we will drive back to Lanzhou, where you can relax and enjoy the scenic views along the way. Upon arrival in Lanzhou, we’ll take an express train to Zhangye, a journey that will offer a comfortable and efficient way to reach your next destination.

Day 6 Zhangye - jiayuguan

After breakfast, we will begin our day with a visit to the Grand Buddha Temple, which has stood for over 900 years as a remarkable symbol of Chinese Buddhist culture. As we explore, you'll have the chance to admire the stunning wooden structures and intricate carvings that reflect the craftsmanship of the ancient builders. Day 7 Jiayuguan - Dunhuang

Day 8 Dunhuang - Turpan

After breakfast, we will begin our day with a visit to the world-renowned Mogao Grottoes, a UNESCO World Heritage site that holds an extraordinary 1,600 years of cultural, architectural, and artistic significance. The Mogao Grottoes, often referred to as the "Caves of a Thousand Buddhas," contain 492 cave temples and over 45,000 square meters of frescoes, making it one of the most important collections of Buddhist art in the world. Day 9 Turpan - Urumqi

Today, you will enjoy a full day exploring the fertile oasis of Turpan, known for its rich history and agricultural significance. Your first stop will be the Karez Well irrigation system, an ancient marvel that has enabled the region to thrive despite its desert surroundings. The Karez system, which consists of a series of underground channels, has been used for over 2,000 years to bring water from the mountains to irrigate the land. This system has supported local agriculture, allowing the area to produce some of China’s best melons and grapes. Day 10 Urumqi

After breakfast, we will set off for Heavenly Lake, nestled in the Tianshan Mountains, one of the most scenic destinations in Xinjiang. Sitting at an altitude of 1,980 meters above sea level, this mountain lake offers stunning panoramic views of snow-capped peaks surrounding its calm, crystal-clear waters. The boat tour around Heavenly Lake is an experience that should not be missed. As the boat gently glides over the surface, you will be mesmerized by the striking colors of the lake, which shift from vibrant turquoise to deep blues, depending on the time of day and sunlight. Here, you’ll explore exhibits that highlight the ancient cultures of Xinjiang, with displays of mummies, textiles, and artifacts from the Taklamakan Desert civilizations. The museum offers a unique opportunity to learn about the history of Xinjiang, its Silk Road connections, and the diverse ethnic groups, such as the Uygurs, Kazakhs, and Tajiks. After checking in, you'll have the rest of the day to relax and unwind, or you may choose to take a stroll around the area, experiencing the unique blend of cultures, markets, and scenic views that make Kashgar one of China’s most intriguing cities. 

Day 12 Kashgar - Taxkorgan

After breakfast, we will begin a scenic drive along the China-Pakistan Highway, which will take us on a journey of about 4 hours, offering stunning views of the Pamirs Plateau. This region is known for its dramatic landscapes, where the rugged mountains meet expansive, remote plateaus. As we drive through the area, you'll be able to enjoy the raw beauty of the Pamirs, with vast stretches of grasslands, towering snow-capped peaks, and remote villages dotting the landscape. The Pamir Mountains, often called the "Roof of the World," provide a backdrop that’s both awe-inspiring and humbling. After about 40 minutes of driving, we will stop at the Opal village to visit its traditional bazaar. The village's bustling market is a fantastic place to experience local life, offering a vibrant mix of traditional goods, spices, handmade crafts, and textiles. The market is a colorful reflection of the region’s diverse cultures and people, including Uygur and Kirghiz communities. Walking through the bazaar, you'll encounter friendly locals, many of whom have lived in the area for generations, and get a taste of the region’s rich cultural heritage.

On the way, we will also visit the beautiful Karakul Lake, one of the most picturesque spots in the area. Situated at an altitude of 3,600 meters, the lake’s crystal-clear waters reflect the surrounding snow-capped mountains, creating a breathtaking view. The landscape around Karakul Lake is equally captivating, with herds of livestock grazing along the lakeside. The sight of sheep and yaks calmly wandering the shores, reflected in the shimmering water, creates an almost surreal scene, especially when the early morning light casts a golden hue on the landscape. The lake is also home to Kirghiz herdsmen, who traditionally set up their encampments near the water to graze their herds in the summer months. Day 13 Taxkorgan - Kashgar

In the morning, we begin our drive back to Kashgar, stopping at the Stone Fortress along the way. The fortress, built with sun-dried bricks on a stone foundation, is oval in shape and boasts walls that stretch 1,285 meters in circumference. This historical site, once a key defensive structure on the Silk Road, offers a glimpse into the region’s past. Walking along the walls, you'll be able to appreciate the strategic importance of the fortress and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, which includes vast plains and distant mountains. After exploring the fortress, we continue our journey to the nearby pastureland to observe the daily life of the local Tajik people. The Tajiks are known for their pastoral lifestyle, with many herding livestock like sheep, goats, and yaks. As we walk through the pastures, you’ll witness traditional practices such as wool spinning and weaving, and you may encounter herders tending to their flocks. Day 14 Kashgar

Today, you will embark on a full-day exploration of Kashgar. The journey begins with a visit to Id Kah Mosque, the largest mosque in China and a spiritual heart for the Uighur community.
