Walking along the stone pathways, we are greeted by the serene sight of the clear pond, which mirrors the majestic peaks of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, creating an almost surreal landscape. Our guide explains the spiritual significance of this park, home to the Dongba Culture Research Institute, where the ancient traditions of the Naxi people are preserved. We cross the elegant marble bridge, stopping to admire the iconic Moon-Embracing Pavilion, a stunning structure that seems to float on the water’s surface. The soft ripples on the pond create mesmerizing patterns, as if painting an ever-changing masterpiece under the sky. The peaceful ambiance, combined with the gentle sound of rustling willow trees, offers a perfect way to end the day’s journey.

As the sun sets, we return to Sifang Street, where the lively atmosphere continues into the evening. Our guide recommends hidden teahouses, live music spots, and local delicacies to explore at our own pace. With the town illuminated by soft lantern light and the distant sounds of folk songs in the air, we enjoy a free evening to wander, shop, or simply soak in the charm of Lijiang Ancient Town.

Northeast China is cold, really cold, but it’s also incredibly beautiful. We visited Harbin, Snow Village, Jingpo Lake, Changbai Mountain, Jilin, and Changchun, and the winter landscapes were just breathtaking. Even though it was freezing outside, once we were indoors with the cozy heating, we didn’t feel the cold at all. Jingpo Lake, with its ice after a fresh snowfall, was something straight out of a postcard.

Iris from the team was amazing, she was super helpful and really thought ahead, especially with the needs of elderly travelers. She made sure everything went smoothly, and we didn’t have to worry about a thing. Despite the cold, this trip was an unforgettable winter wonderland, and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a stunning, chilly adventure!
